Ger Timmons is from Donadea in Co. Kildare, Ireland. He has been
performing with various acts since the early 80s, starting out with a
pop group called Café. Down the years he has worked with many
different genres of music including rock, pop, reggae, even metal, and
recently also worked with a trad-fusion band called the Gypsy’s.
Last year Ger was approached by country artist Billy Joe Ward and
asked if he would consider recording a country song that Billy Joe
picked up in the states. The song was called “Wagon Wheel” and was
a popular radio hit prior to the Nathan Carter version. This was Ger’s
first encounter with true American country, although he has been a
long time fan of Steve Earl, since the days of “Copper Head Road”. Ger
has discovered people like Tim McGraw, Toby Keith and Gretchen
Wilson, to name just a few.
Now under management with Billy. The Ger Timmons band prepares to
release their second single entitled “Fox on the Run”, with a follow up
duet to be released next year. Both tracks have been produced by Billy
with 30 years experience in the music industry whom better.
Ger is in rehearsal with his new band, due to be on the road later this
year, so keep a look out folks! Come along and say hi, and hear them
perform their country/rock with a little flavour of country/blues and
trad/rock.
